Any time, with a signed media center pass
Extended hours on some occasions
How many books can I check out at a time?
Students in grades Pre K-1 may check out 5 books at a time (these books may not leave the school).
Students in grade 2-11 may check out 5 books at a time (these books may be taken home, if they are returned on time).
Only 2 mangas/graphic novels may be checked out at a time. These books cannot be renewed.
How long can I keep my book?
Students are expected to return library materials on time, which means:
Within 2 weeks (14 days) for Grades PreK-5
Within 3 weeks (21 days) for Grades 6-11
Students may renew books ONE TIME for 2 additional weeks if needed.
Do I have to pay if my book is late? What happens if I lose or ruin my books?
There are no fines for late books, but students may not check out any new materials until overdue items are returned. Fines ($2 per book) are only charged if a book is lost or irreparably damaged.
Students with fines totaling $20 or more may not check out books until their balance is brought below $20.
Notifications about fines for lost or badly damaged books are shared with families at the end of each quarter.
What are my responsibilities as a media center user?
When a student checks out a book, it is their responsibility to return the book on time and in good condition.
Fines ($2 per book) will be charged at the end of each quarter for lost or severely damaged materials.
Students with excessive lost items or fines ($20 or more) will not be able to check out more books until lost items are returned or fines are brought below $20.
All CSE students and families are asked to read and agree to our written Media Center User Covenant, which communicates user policies and expectations. Once a covenant is signed and on file, families do not need to sign a new one each year. View the user covenant below.
