Media Center Mission & Goals
Mission: CSE Media Center staff strive to develop curious, creative, resourceful, and well-informed scholars who love to read, are capable of accessing, organizing, and evaluating information, and use their knowledge to solve problems and participate productively in their communities.

Standards for Content Delivery
CSE’s Media Center goals align to the AASL (American Association of School Librarians) framework to guide Media Center instruction.
Media Center Schedule & Programs
Elementary students make weekly visits to library (30 mins). Each visit begins with a lesson/story followed by library browsing and checking out of books
Middle school students make bi-weekly visits to library (30 mins). Each visit begins with a lesson/story/poetry followed by library browsing and checking out of books.
Open 30min-1hour blocks are available by request most days of the week (media center staff provides instruction in accessing reference materials, online research skills and using research technology, writing using research, citing sources, plagiarism education etc.)
Classroom teachers are supported using AASL standards alignment to content area standards.
Numerous reading incentive programs
Cultural Center & Community Engagement
CSE’s Media Center hosts seasonal “Family Nights” during the school year, which align with scheduled PTO meetings. These events involve:
Literacy themed games and activities
Storytelling, story reading, and poetry reading
Book themed movies
Special book and prize giveaways
CSE’s Media Center also functions as a Hmong Cultural Center that houses literature about Hmong history and culture, displays Hmong artifacts, and hosts numerous cultural events over the course of the school year.
