Policies and Media Center User Covenant

General Media Center Policies

  • When can I go to the media center?
    • Mon - Fri 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
    • Extended hours on some occasions
  • How many books can I check out at a time?
    • Students in grades Pre K-1 may check out 1 book at a time (these books may not leave the school).
    • Students in grade 2-8 may check out 2 books at a time (these books may be taken home).
    • 2-8 grade students are asked to check out only 1 book if the book is 200 pages or longer.
    • Only 1 manga/graphic novel may be checked out at a time. These books cannot be renewed.
  • How long can I keep my book?
    • Students are expected to return library materials on time
      • Within one week for PreK-5
      • Within 2 weeks for 6-8
    • Students may renew books for 1 additional week if needed.
    • There are no fines for overdue books, but students may not check out any new materials until overdue items are returned.
    • Students may return books and check out new materials during their scheduled classroom checkout times, or with a "library pass", given by a classroom teacher, before school (8:30-9:00 a.m.), after school (4:00-4:30 p.m.), or during the school day.
  • What are my responsibilities as a media center user?
    • When a student checks out a book, it is his or her responsibility to return the book on time and in good condition.
    • Fines will be charged at the end of each quarter for lost or damaged materials.
    • Students with excessive lost items or fines will not be able to check out more books until lost items are returned or fines are paid.
