Experience: I have worked as a Facility Manager for a group home in California. Through that initial experience, I knew I wanted to work with youth to help them find success no matter their circumstances. I also have a background in working with children with autism. This experience forced me to learn to communicate when verbal communication is not an option. Lastly, the past two years I have been a Behavior Specialist in Saint Paul School District. This experience has taught to me to help each of our students develop unique educational experiences that will foster ambition and growth.

Why CSE: I have always been curious about what it would be like to go to school in a place where I was not ashamed of my cultural heritage. A place where students are not just given opportunities to learn about the outside world, but to learn about one’s internal identity. When I heard about Community School of Excellence (CSE) and their mission and vision, I knew I wanted to be a part of that community. The privilege to work with staff members who want to better the minority communities was too tempting to spurn. Lastly, and most importantly, the students here want to be successful and are seeking for people to validate and open their minds to new experiences.

CSE’s Greatest Asset: I believe that the greatest asset of CSE has to be the emphasis on cultural identity and the power of a community working towards a common goal. The families, just like the staff of CSE, play an important role in the development of our youth.

What I want to tell CSE Parents: I will advocate for and support your child’s future. I am here to help your child develop socially, emotionally, and academically. I look to bridge the generational gap to provide a clear line of communication. We are blessed to have a culturally relevant school, and with the support of the community, we can work together to bring success to our students and their families.

What Vichai likes to do for fun:  I am fond of reading leadership and personal development books. I can spend a lot of time planning to make plans. I enjoy watching sports especially basketball. However, my favorite pastime would be spending quality time with my family.

Vichai’s favorite books: The Outlier, The Tipping Point, and What the Dog Saw

Experience: Over 10 years of experience working in program development, management and operations in multiple settings that include non-profits, higher education and youth-based organizations.

Why CSE: CSE offers students, family and staff an opportunity to stretch one's learning beyond the school. I am excited to be part of a school that promotes continued growth for everyone.

CSE’s Greatest Asset: The staff and their focus on the success of each child at the school.

What I want to tell CSE Parents: Learning takes place both inside the school and outside the school.  We, as educators, want to make sure that their children are academically prepared to be successful adults.

What Ge likes to do for fun: My family is important to me and I love to provide experiences where we are engaged in learning; such as hikes, museums and reading.

Ge’s favorite books: I don't have just one favorite book. I love to read mystery, documentaries, romance, fiction, non-fiction.  Reading helps me to relax and remember to slow down.

Experience: I have over 15 years of experience in education. These experiences include teaching, mentoring, leading professional development, curriculum development and management.

Why CSE: I believe in the mission and vision of CSE because it provides a safe environment for Hmong students to learn about their language and culture so that they know where they came from. CSE extends this learning by providing the opportunity for students to travel overseas as part of its Global Connections Program for the students to have first-hand experiences. I'm excited to be a part of this school.

CSE’s Greatest Asset: The community, the students, and the staff.

What I want to tell CSE Parents: I am dedicated to support the learning of all the students here at CSE. I believe that the parents are the first teachers for their child because I am a parent myself. With the support of our parents here at CSE, we will be able to raise up future leaders and productive citizens to better our community and the world.

What Chue likes to do for fun: I enjoy spending time with my family. I also enjoy traveling with my husband overseas.

Favorite books: I enjoy reading various genres such as suspense, motivational/inspirational, fiction/non-fiction and faith-based.
